What We're Made Of: The Eco-Friendly Fabrics Behind LACAUSA
Sustainable women's clothing, ethically made in Los Angeles since 2013.
At LACAUSA, every piece starts long before the sewing begins.
We always begin with one question: what is this made of, and does it deserve to exist?
We are a Los Angeles-based sustainable clothing brand, designing and manufacturing 100% in downtown LA since 2013. Our fabrics are at the core of that commitment.
No overseas shortcuts. No compromise on ethics or quality. Just considered materials, eco-friendly dyes, and clothing made to last.
Below is a closer look at the fabrics we use and why we choose them.
Organic Cotton, The foundation of sustainable basics
Soft, familiar, and endlessly wearable, organic cotton is the backbone of LACAUSA.
We use certified organic cotton grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and requiring up to 90% less water than conventional cotton. It supports healthier soil, safer farming practices, and a better experience for the wearer.
Our cotton pieces are dyed using low-impact, eco-friendly dyes with no harsh chemicals and no shortcuts.
Worn in: The Zoe Tank, a fitted rib essential inspired by the perfect vintage undershirt, made for everyday layering.
Siro Micro Modal, The softest fabric you’ll ever wear
Some fabrics do not just feel good, they feel like you.
Siro Micro Modal is a premium fiber made using a dual-strand spinning process that creates an ultra-fine, strong, and smooth yarn. It comes from sustainably harvested European beechwood pulp, a renewable resource that uses significantly less land and water than cotton.
It is silky, breathable, resistant to pilling, and designed to hold color beautifully over time.
Worn in: The Eliah Dress, a sleek, body-skimming midi that moves effortlessly from day to night.
Viscose, Fluid, breathable, effortlessly draped
Viscose is a plant-based fiber made from wood pulp, known for its softness and natural drape.
It brings ease and movement to silhouettes, making even simple shapes feel intentional. Light, breathable, and smooth against the skin, it works especially well in fluid, slip-inspired pieces.
Worn in: The Bronson Skirt, lightweight with a bias cut that follows the body naturally.

Rayon, Versatile, soft, and always flattering
Rayon is a plant-derived fiber valued for its versatility and easy drape.
It blends seamlessly with other materials and creates soft, wearable silhouettes that feel relaxed but refined. When combined with viscose, it adds texture and movement, enhanced further through garment-dyeing.
Worn in: The Alma Slip, a timeless silhouette with adjustable straps and a naturally flattering shape.
Tencel™ (Lyocell), One of fashion’s most responsible fibers
Tencel is widely considered one of the most sustainable fibers available today.
Made from eucalyptus and beechwood pulp through a closed-loop process, it recycles up to 99% of water and solvents used in production. It is biodegradable, moisture-wicking, and naturally smooth with a subtle sheen.
It represents the future of responsible fabric innovation.
Worn in: The Echo Trouser, a wide-leg silhouette that transitions easily from casual to elevated.
Raw Silk, Timeless, textured, made to last
Raw silk is our most elevated fabric, reserved for pieces designed to be kept.
Through a garment-dye process, each piece develops its own depth of color and character. It has natural texture, a soft sheen, and only gets better with wear.
This is slow fashion at its most intentional.
Worn in: The Raw Silk Henley, relaxed, refined, and fluid with statement sleeves.
Recycled Polyester (RPET), Performance from post-consumer waste
Our RPET fabric is made from post-consumer plastic bottles, transformed into high-performance yarn for our activewear and swim collections.
It delivers durability without compromise. Moisture-wicking, shape-retaining, chlorine-resistant, and built for movement.
Each piece helps divert plastic waste from landfills and gives it a second life.
Worn in: The Element Legging, sleek, compressive, and designed to move.

Every fabric, every seam, every garment is made in our downtown LA studio.
We have manufactured 100% in the USA since 2013 and that will never change.
Producing locally allows us to stay close to every step of the process, support skilled garment workers with fair wages, and reduce the environmental cost of overseas production.
